Heralded as one of the most versatile soloists of today, soprano Lesley-Jane Rogers is renowned for her captivating and evocative performances. An established concert soloist, she specialises in oratorio, “vocal concertos”, solo cantatas, recitals and contemporary music, and is praised for her sensitivity and thoughtful interpretation.
Oratorio
By far the greatest part of Lesley-Jane’s concert diary is oratorio work, and her extensive experience encompasses the mainstream repertoire - she frequently performs works by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Elgar and Verdi - as well as many more unusual pieces. She is also an exuberant performer when required, and is a popular choice for new works, and for large-scale pieces such as Vaughan Williams’s Sea Symphony or Elgar The Kingdom.
Recitals
Lesley-Jane’s wide-ranging recital repertoire incorporates Lieder, mélodies, English Song, American song, new music, as well as lighter music and show songs, and, if desired, opera and operetta arias. Whether drawing on popular favourites or beguiling unknowns (or a mixture of the two), she creates well-crafted concerts, discussing programming ideas with Festival Directors and concert promoters as appropriate. Add to this Lesley-Jane's out-going personality and her engaging interpretative skills, and the result is a lively, visual performance, tailored to the audience.
