Piano Lessons

Lesley-Jane has been a private piano teacher for many years, taking students from beginner level to advanced.  Whether a pupil chooses to study for formal music exams or to learn for pure pleasure is entirely up the individual. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that several of her former students have gone on to read music either at University or a Conservatoire!

In the initial stages, she encourages exploration of the piano and its sound, imaginative work, finger work, and has an easy way of introducing note-reading and rhythmic values.  In later stages she encourages good technique, a sound musical knowledge and awareness of different musical styles. At all stages she believes music should be fun!

Lesley-Jane studied piano and singing at the Royal Academy of Music, from where she also gained her Piano Teaching Qualification [LRAM].   She teaches at her home on a Boston Grand Piano.

Styles:  Lesley-Jane teaches Baroque (including work with harpsichord);  Classical;  Romantic;  20th Century; and Printed Jazz.  She also teaches THEORY.

She is DBS checked.

Lesley-Jane is one of those rare teachers that have all the qualities needed for a happy and thriving young musician: warm, caring, inspirational, aspirational, organised, and extremely on the ball. Not only does my child love learning with her but she has opened up a whole world of music in him in the most exciting way and he is enthralled by it and determined to succeed.

Woody [age 10]
I am a pupil of Lesley-Jane. I have been with her for four years and it feels like I have been with her for 10 years, I have learnt so much from her. She is caring but firm and if I learn a piece she will help me bring it alive to the best of my ability. She has a great way of explaining things in a way that makes music so interesting that it is out of this world. She is more than a piano teacher; she is a life changer. She has a great sense of humour personally and in the way she teaches music. She is the best teacher I have ever had! From Woody
