GENERAL

Although primarily known as a singer and secondarily as a piano teacher, Lesley-Jane has nevertheless always been a “scribbler”. Like many a writer, she has drawers full of ideas - chords, chord sequences, lyric melodies, often hastily scribbled on any scrap of paper available - all waiting to be developed in to full-blown compositions.
A few years back, she decided to take a more disciplined approach and to try and produce finished works. Choral music in particular became an obvious medium for her creative outpourings.
She was delighted when conductors then wished to perform these items, with Matthew Owens and the Wells Cathedral Choir as one of her first dedicated exponents. More recently, Robert Jones and the choir of St Bride’s Fleet Street, Tom Winpenny and the Girl Choristers at St Albans Abbey, and Jonathan Hope and the Gloucester Cathedral Lay Clerks have performed various of her works.
In 2022 she had various items recorded, at which point she finally acquiesced to adding a ‘Composer’ page to her website.

She is also a keep improviser, and vocal students will attest that they are often treated to some extraordinary accompaniments to vocal warm-ups!
